To mark the occasion, they have brought along an original Sleipner engine built in 1908. This 3.5 horsepower engineering antiquity has certainly been a talking point on their stand as it sits alongside the sophisticated side thrusters systems for which Sleipner are best known.
The company is based in Norway, and at one time was the largest manufacturer of marine engines in Norway; it was later in their history that they moved on to specialise in bow thrusters. “We have always manufactured propulsion systems but in the mid 1980’s launched our side power thrusters which are now the major products which we manufacture,” explained Ronny Skauen, Managing Director. “We have since grown in to the world’s number one producer of thrusters systems for leisure craft and small commercial vessels. For example we supply 100% of the side thrusters for Sunseeker, Princess and Fairline,” said Ronny.
