The National Boat Fishing League, which is sponsored by Suzuki, is an annual club-based event running over the year with the ‘07 final held in Poole in October. The 2007 competition attracted 731 anglers competing from 26 clubs across England. Suzuki donates £25 for each club that joins and raised £650 for the NFSA.

Richard Day, who only found out he was fishing the final two days before the date, was absolutely made up to win. When asked about his prize, he said, “I’m really pleased, I’m now thinking about looking for a new boat to put it on”.

Richard fished a solid final, with a very good first hour. By the mid-way point he was 11 points ahead. The second half of the final allowed Richard’s fellow finalists to catch up a little but he managed to secure the win at the end of the day by 7 points, catching a total of 21 fish. Richard commented, “I had a good start which set me up for a solid final, it was a really good day with a good bunch of lads”.
