It’s a multi function GPS chart plotter that’s the size of a mobile phone – and it’s been designed to combine marine, land, hiking and skiing navigation in one compact unit. The Geonav 3 has made its UK debut at this year’s Show on the C A Clase stand S0006C.

This fully programmable chart plotter is compatible with both Navionics Land & Sea and Navionics Platinum charts. There’s also a new Geonav G3S which includes an electronic compass with a graphical and digital display, and a barometer showing the 24 hour pressure trend.
The Geonav 3 has a 2.2” colour, sunlight viewable screen and software features with Navionics Platinum charts include 3D navigation, satellite images, port pictures and coastal aerial photographs. It also features a ‘Go To’ function to recall ports and markers as well as identifying the nearest location for immediate supplies of necessities such as water and fuel. It uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery life with a life of 9 hours and comes with an AC/DC charger. The dimensions are 110.5mm x 52.5mm x 21.5mm and it weighs approximately 100 grams.

Geonav 3In addition to the marine and road cartography, it also provides coastal road networks and information about paths, refuges, mountains and other details relevant to hiking enthusiasts. It will also apparently help skiers navigate throughout any ski resort in the Alps. The system provides information on the access points, names and type of ski lifts, the ski slopes including restaurants and ticket offices, names of the pistes and difficulty level as well as images of major points of interest. It also shows the average speed and distance covered as well as diagrams showing indications of the distance and altitude. Prices start at £349
for a G3 and with Navionics Gold charts it is £480.
