Samuel Carver, who turns 20 on 12th January, has been selected as the Apprentice of the Year from over 25 apprentices that are studying towards NVQ's at Fairline. Samuel, from Market Harborough works on the Phantom 50 line and was nominated by both his mentor and foreman because of his excellent work ethic, time keeping, manners and attitude.
Judith Rowntree from Fairline's HR department commented; "Samuel likes a challenge and looks forward to developing new skills in different areas at Fairline. The feedback from the various departments Samuel has worked within has been excellent and he has proved to be a great asset to the company."
The apprenticeship programme at Fairline has gone from strength to strength and allows those taking part to work in various departments at the factory including engineering, mould shop and fit out. As part of the course apprentices also attend Tresham College in Corby, Northamptonshire once a week.
As one of the key boat builders in the leisure marine industry, Fairline is committed to developing its young employee's skills. In addition to its successful apprenticeship scheme, the company was involved in the development of the Boat Production and Services NVQ level 1 - 3 in 2005 along with the British Marine Federation; Tresham College and the Science, Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies Alliance (SEMTA).
Operating from headquarters in Oundle, Northamptonshire, Fairline Boats produces boats from 38ft to 78ft and currently employs 1,300 people.
