sarah Outen MBE
In 2009, young British adventurer, Sarah Outen became
the first women and youngest person to row solo across the Indian
Ocean from Australia to Mauritius. She is currently completing an
even more ambitious expedition – London2London: Via the World using
only a kayak, a bike and a rowing boat to complete a continuous
loop of the planet.
So far she has cycled and kayaked the 11,000 miles from London
to Japan, followed by her first attempt to row solo across the
North Pacific Ocean. During this attempt Sarah was hit by Tropical
Storm Mawar forcing her to abandon the row due to the irreparable
damage her boat, Gulliver, sustained. She is now back in the UK,
preparing for her second attempt planned for Spring, 2013.
Recently Sarah was awarded an MBE and her
first book ‘A Dip in the Ocean’ was published in 2011. All this and
she is still just 27 years old.
Sarah will be talking about her latest adventure London to
London: via the world, a human powered loop of the planet.
