BMF Tourism host inaugural Conference at the Tullett
Prebon London Boat Show
BMF Tourism, the Group Association responsible for
supporting tourism businesses within the British Marine Federation
(BMF), held its first Tourism Conference yesterday (Thursday 17
January) at the Tullett Prebon London
Boat Show.
The association, which brings together all BMF
members with an interest in domestic inland and coastal tourism as
well as overseas holidays, has a key objective to support the
Government’s Tourism Policy by establishing itself as the
recognised thematic body for the Recreational Boating Tourism
sector.
The Conference included presentations from
James Berresford, Chief Executive of Visit England, on the
organisation’s work to increase the value of the visitor economy
and Sonja Jefferson, Managing Director of Value Content, on how to
maximise sales through the art of high quality content.
The afternoon session saw workshops on the
future work of BMF Tourism and how the organisation can help grow
and promote the socio-economic benefits of the sector.
Chairman of BMF Tourism, Nigel Hamilton said:
“This is a really exciting day for the BMF and BMF Tourism.
Within the BMF there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the
tourism area of our sector. By coming together in this way and
sharing our expertise we can help raise the profile of boating
tourism for the benefit of all.”
The Conference was attended by over 40
businesses from across the BMF membership. BMF Tourism will be a
member-led group association working to grow the boating tourism
sector.
