The Royal Thames Yacht Club is inviting entries to an open regatta to be held during the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show on 10th and 11th January. Entrants will race One Metre radio-controlled model boats around the indoor Watersports Action Pool, which is one of the show’s major visitor attractions.

Two independent one day competitions are open to all yacht clubs. Entrants simply need to bring their own One Metre class yacht, and up to 10 people who can take turns to drive it. Each regatta lasts for around 90 minutes, with up to 27 teams taking part each day. Teams will be seeded and will compete for a place in the daily final.

The winning team will take home a stylish glassware trophy and £500 prize money, whilst the second placed team will also receive a trophy and prize money of £200, with prize money of £100 going to the third placed team. The entry fee for the event is just £15, which includes 10 complimentary tickets for team supporters, plus a car parking space at ExCel, so entrants are saved from having to negotiate public transport whilst carrying their yacht!

Entry forms and the Notice of Race can be found online at http://www.royalthames.com/event/272

Entries will be accepted up until the deadline of 17th December.

The Royal Thames Yacht Club has worked closely with National Boat Shows Ltd in organising the competition, and it is hoped that it will become an annual event.
